President of Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku has named Asamoah Gyan and Abedi Pele Ayew as his two favourite Ghanaian footballers of all-time.
The FA chief refused to comtemplate on the ongoing debate about Ghana’s best eleven in history but insists Asamoah Gyan and Abedi Pele Ayew are the two players who have captured his imagination the most.
“I will just give you two names who in my opinion have been fantastic,” Kurt Okraku commented during an interview with GhanaWeb’s Sports Check
“One is the general captain of the Black Stars commonly known as Baby Jet (Asamoah Gyan) and the other one; the only one, the Maestro (Abedi Pele).
Asamoah Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Black Stars with 51 goals and is one of the longest-serving players after making his premiere in 2003 against Somalia in a World Cup qualifier.
Meanwhile, Abedi Pele made his name in France after conducting Olympique Marseille to UEFA Champions League glory in 1993, and went on to win that year’s African Footballer of the year award.
He also won the Nations Cup with the Black Stars of Ghana in 1982, as a teenager.
